George Mason University’s Black Male Success Initiative (BMSI) focuses on academic, social and life issues, and career readiness.
BMSI has the expressed interest in increasing retention and graduation rates; fostering.a supportive environment for students to live, learn, and grow; and most importantly, addressing the needs and challenges facing black males in our society today.

Students who participate in BMSI will:
Achieve academic success through an understanding of campus resources (Academic Success)
Expand their engagement and understanding of Black culture through exploring masculinity and social justice issues (Leadership & Social Justice)
Develop skills assisting them in preparing for their career aspirations through workshops and programs (Career Readiness & Preparation)
Develop, maintain, and strengthen interpersonal and professional relationships with peers, faculty, and mentors in the broader community (Community Engagement)
