My name is JoJo Taylor and my pronouns are he/they. I am Senior studying Systems Engineering with a concentration in Cybersecurity at George Mason. I am from Goodman, Mississippi but I have lived in VA since about 2014. I come from Mississippi and so I have seen the second-hand oppression of black men from the system in which they live in. Things changed when I moved up North but the things the North did better they lacked in other ways that maybe the South did better. I came to Mason and felt all that oppression on a first hand and I wanted to carve out space for black men to be protected, to have resources, and be seen. By the community, by other black people, and by themselves and furthermore to not let it be a moment but instead a permanent memory.
